Redesigned Settings: Connectors, Physiology, Notifications, and More

by The Next Race

Settings That Make Sense

The old settings page was getting crowded. Your profile, training thresholds, unit preferences, notification toggles, and connector cards were all on one or two screens. Finding what you needed meant scrolling past things you didn't.

We've restructured everything into five focused sections, consistent across web and mobile.

Profile

Your identity in The Next Race. Edit your name, upload an avatar, set your club, country, gender, and birthday. On mobile, the country field is now a searchable picker with flag emojis instead of a free-text input.

Your email and sign-in provider (Google or Apple) are displayed but not editable — they're tied to your authentication method.

Physiology

Your training thresholds and body metrics, separated from profile details so they're easier to find and update.

  • Height and Weight — with units that respect your metric/imperial preference
  • VO2 Max and HRV — key fitness indicators
  • Swim Threshold Pace — displayed with a /100m (or /100yd) unit label
  • FTP — with a W (watts) label, capped at 500W
  • Run Threshold Pace — with a /km (or /mi) unit label
  • Heart Rate zones — max, resting, and lactate threshold HR

Pace fields auto-format as you type — enter "430" and it becomes "4:30". All unit labels update automatically when you switch between metric and imperial.

Preferences

Formerly called "General," this section covers how the app looks and behaves:

  • Appearance — Light, Dark, or System (new on mobile)
  • Unit System — Metric or Imperial
  • Week Start — Monday or Sunday
  • Date Format — DD/MM or MM/DD
  • Time Format — 12h or 24h
  • Show Week Numbers — Toggle ISO week numbers in calendar views

Notifications

Control what alerts you receive:

  • Activity Imported — When a Strava or Wahoo activity is auto-imported
  • Workout Comments — When someone comments on a workout
  • Plan Invitations — When a coach invites you to a training plan

Each toggle saves immediately — no save button needed.

Connectors

Every integration now has its own card with relevant controls built in:

  • Strava — Connect/Remove + Auto-import toggle
  • Wahoo — Connect/Remove + Auto-import toggle
  • Spotify — Connect/Remove + Sync songs toggle
  • Oura — Connect/Remove + Sync button (pulls sleep and SpO2 data)
  • Garmin — Coming soon
  • Apple Health — Connect via the iOS app

We've also refreshed all connector icons to match the mobile app's square icon set, and renamed "Disconnect" to "Remove" for clarity.

Same Experience, Both Platforms

Every section on the web has a matching modal on mobile, in the same order: Profile, Physiology, Preferences, Notifications, Connectors. Change a setting on one platform, and it's reflected on the other — everything syncs through your account.
